Meet Dr. Persia Jamshidi

With a masters in genetics and doctorate in molecular biology, Dr. Persia worked for many years studying targeted cancer therapies. As part of that work, she found herself approached by family members and friends of her cancer patients.

They were worried about their own risks of going through the same thing as their loved ones with cancer. But all they knew about preventing cancer was to eat well and exercise.

Is that enough?

Over time, Dr. Persia was encouraged to dig deep in and start researching other ways to prevent it. She discovered that in addition to food and exercise, the biggest risk factor she noticed was mental stress, which gradually translates into physical stress.

Persistent stress weakens mental health, weakens the immune system, and leads to chronic inflammation; chronic inflammation is one of the leading risk factors for cancer.

She created cutting-edge scientific trainings to help people improve their mental and emotional health. To date, she has helped thousands of people improve their physical and mental health using her groundbreaking training.

Interestingly, she began noticing something about many of the men in her trainings. The men, she observed, were often completely unprepared to address their mental health struggles. It was much harder for them to take advantage of her trainings.

Dr. Persia came to understand that there was something underneath this – something unique to men. Their masculinity had been shaped in such a way that they had no healthy mechanism with which to work through their stresses and mental health challenges.

Then, she discovered unsettling statistics about how 80% of all suicide fatalities are men, but hardly anyone talks about this.

Masculinity Research

With a leap of faith, Dr. Persia pivoted and became a masculinity researcher with the primary mission to reduce the male suicide fatality rate and to help men learn how to thrive and advance even in the midst of stresses and struggles. She began interviewing thousands of men around the globe, helping them identify and honor their unique masculine identities, helping them learn how to validate their emotions and experiences, and enabling them to talk about their hurts and pains without feeling restrained by the teachings of traditional masculinity.

Bringing Them All Together

As a result, Dr. Persia has launched multiple initiatives through which she works to help men improve their mental fitnessreduce stress, and improve their physical health.

These include:

  • Positive Masculinity Academy: An educational company helping to shape our culture to
                ⊛ View men in a more realistic and healthy way.
                ⊛ Acknowledge their pain.
                ⊛ Learn to offer resources tailored to men.
                ⊛ Stop attacking masculinity to control men’s behavior.
  • Feminists for Men: A non-profit organization aiming to reduce the male suicide fatality rate by offering services free of charge in 7 areas of high stressor situations that men specifically face.
  • “Secure Masculinity” PodcastAiming to eradicate insecure masculinity that is one of the biggest risk factors in perpetuating the high suicide rate, violence, and incarceration for men.
  • Corporate Trainings for Men: Jamshidi Method™ is her latest adventure in offering the first ever executives and employee training specific to men. Arose out of her work when she noted how many men in her other programs also reported vastly improved performance and productivity at work.

Home. Community. Workplace.Dr. Persia has created three branches that build up the men in each of those spaces.She has worked with over 7000 men to date, validating their natural and unique masculinity, alleviating the backbreaking pressure to conform to a certain glorified stereotype in order to gain respect, and giving them clear and practical steps, they can use to continue performing at a high level no matter what is coming their way.
